The Modern Jazz Quartet, as composed of John Lewis (piano, musical director), Milt Jackson (vibraphone), Percy Heath (double bass), and Connie Kay (drums).
The vibes make for an especially cool modern jazz feel, while continually referencing the blues. The unusual timbre of the group as compared to their traditional source material allows for what we can consider a valuable recording of classic jazz. 1960
